In our time almost everything that can move does. Logos, graphics, there is a lot of motion, even when it isn't essential. And when this is combined with sound, and especially music, it leaves an impression on the viewer that is often greater than what they actually saw. To me, nothing is more powerful than the moving image. Whenever possible I like to include motion graphics and film pieces with my design and illustration to add further layers of depth.
Design to me is about clarification and consolidation. It's the deliberate approach of taking information, often complicated and dense, and making it easier to digest. Also I enjoy the economy of design, the act of simplifying and editing, getting rid of what is not essential, while keeping what is vital.
The potential expressiveness of illustration is what draws me to it. Illustration doesn't have to condense, but it can. It can be beautiful or unsettling. The capacity to provoke, to me, is it's greatest use.
